Today in 1911, a true Hoosier was born. He basically started the gun rights movement in Indiana. It was through his legislation that not only are we allowed to own firearms, but carry them legally. He tried hard to eliminate all barriers that other legislators put into place but came up a little short. Hence, what he gave us was eventually turned into out License to Carry a Handgun or LTCH.
Yes, I'm speaking of Lawrence Thomas Charles Hoopenstein.
He served out state to the best of his ability. And he did a fine job. He was a true statesman, husband and father.
Sadly, he was taken from us all too soon. A kangaroo had escaped from a circus train and was chasing a few youngsters. Steiny, which was how hewas known to friends, distracted the rabid marsupial long enough for the children to get to safety, but lost the fight. He was taken from this earth way too soon.
In a previous thread, others had mentioned that they had known people who worked with Larry and what a great man he was. On a recent roadtrip, I went out of my way to stop at his grave.
So lets have a drink for Steiny today in remembrance of a great Hoosier!
