    You need to use powder with the proper burn rate or you will mess up the op rod/ blow the heal off the reciever.
    I dont have it but, the Hornady manual has a section just for the garand

    Get an adjustable gas plug and you can load without worrying about damaging the gun. I've got one in the mail from midway. Could be the best $35 I ever spent.

    The crimp from a properly adjusted RCBS deating die or a Dillon taper crimp should be sufficient. I didn't have mine adjusted correctly and could push the bullet into the case. Re-adjusted and all was good.

    The Hornady manual has excellent details for service rifles.

    I've been meaning to scan it to have on hand for those who are curious.

    EDIT:

    I've got a PDF for the 150-155 an 168 gr Hornady loads for those who are interested. They have data for 178gr bullets, too, but who shoots those?!?
