Thought you guys might like to see some really big civil war cannons. Here's a pic of two 15 inch rodman guns(columbaids) on the parade ground of Ft. Sumter

    A holler in Kentucky
Yeah, that's really cool! I've always wanted to go there and to Gettysburg. I'm not what anyone would consider a Civil war buff, but I'm getting more and more interested in it as I get older.:yesway:

gettysburg is awesome, back when i was in school we went there in 8th grade, was a blast but they didnt tell us about the ghosts, ive only learned of them recently, apparently the wax museum we went through had a basement with a pretty dark past.

    Weird feeling

On our trip to Gettysburg several years ago, we walked the route of Pickett's charge from the Union lines out and back. Thinking about the thousands of men who set off on that march knowing full well they were going to die gave me a very weird feeling. By the way, "charge" is not very accurate, it's a long way. The Rebel soldiers were in full view of the Union lines when they left the cover of the trees and were under cannon fire most of the way. However, if you walk that route from near the Virginia Monument toward the center of the Union lines, the focal point of the attack, you'll walk into a depression which provides complete cover. When they came up out of that depression the Rebels were staring straight into the muzzles of the Union guns at deadly-close range! Those men were a different breed of cat! I recommend taking that walk.

Ghosts? I don't believe in ghosts but, if they do exist, there sure should be some to walk with in that field!

Edit: None of the above-mentioned guns were 15", though. Those are monsters!
