I was down at Atterbury on Friday and Saturday this week and was noticing the folks shooting. First off, there were a lot of them. There was a waiting list for the 50 yard range, but the pistol range was almost as crowded. On Friday, I went down to test out a just repaired pistol and on Saturday I took my sister and her daughter down. It was my niece's 16th birthday and this was her first time shooting.
The thing that struck me was that there are a lot of family's shooting now days. Lots of husband, wife and kid groups. There were a couple of single women and a bunch of folks with 7 to 10 year olds. All of this was on the 25 yard range and they were shooting a mix of 22 rifles and handguns.
I'm happy to see that there are more and more people shooting now. I would have loved to take a photo of the pistol range on Saturday and post it as a reply to the folks that say only gun-nuts and radicals own handguns. It sure looked like a decent cross section of our society to me.
