I have located a lightly used Noveske upper receiver group which I am considering using on my next build. I has supposedly had few hundred rounds through it, and the guy is selling it to finance another build. It is available at about 30% less than the same setup brand new. Of course I'm interested in the Noveske for the barrel quality, primarily.

My question is this: How would you feel about purchasing this lightly used upper group at this price point? Am I correct in assuming that unless the guy used the barrel to pry his car out of a ditch, there's very little that could go wrong with such a high quality setup with this much use? Is there anything I should be aware of or consider before dropping this kind of cash on a used barrel?

From what I have noticed, unless someone has a full auto lower and lots of money for ammo, firearms in the private sector do not get wore out.

I would rather buy a used gun/part than pay new retail for something.
