    Hi

This is Mike Hilton from the Family Indoor Shooting Range. I normally do not get on forums as I find they usually only end up in P---ing matches.

However an issue was brought to my attention which requires me to make an exception.
Apparently a part time I.T. employee, or should I say a now terminated I.T. employee has been posting on this forum without our permission or input.

I have personally gone thru the posting regarding the store and am saddened by the facts. I can not address each one individually and from the review of other postings it most likely will only start a new s--- storm.

Every story has two sides and the truth generally lies in the middle. We would like to offer our apologies to those customers who felt they were treated poorly when they came into the store.

We attempt to greet all customers when they come, however sometimes with the volume of customers it is impossible to get to everyone in a timely manner. I will be the 1st to admit that I am not accommodating to some people because I just don't like them. Some of my meds cause me to be a bit less inhibited and many times what ever I am thinking comes out of my mouth. I'm sure you've heard the joking saying " Did I say that out loud". Most people are just great however we do get some folks from the flea market that there parents must be brother and sister.

Pricing is what it is lady's and gentlemen, every business must sell at a profit margin needed to pay the bills. Customer serivce is another thing.

As our [personal attack omitted -Shooter521] ex-employee posted, Michael has come back to work in the store. Michael's return has brought a fresh set of eyes and outlook on the business. This will allow me to get off the retail floor which will greatly help with customer service (As all our regulars know I no longer have the temperament for retail).

My personal goal was to move my wife’s internet business to Florida (if the Drs. don't kill me 1st) and to sell or close the store and range within the next 18 months. However with Michaels renewed interest the plan is for Michael to take over the ownership of the retail store in the near future. Of course that is between Michael and his mom, I'm out of the picture in more than one way.

Disregard the postings of "Greumeyer". if you have a question or issue, drop in the store and speak with Terry or Michael. If they can not answer your concerns my personal email address is webmaster@grnfldinds.com.

Now that all the is over with I wish to only personally address one issue.

    Nick At Indy Gun Works.

    Hi Nick,

Unlike the idiot who was posting I do remember the conversation regarding your new business adventure. Of course it was some time ago so it may not be exact.

I do not believe I blew you off, if you felt so I'm sorry it was not my intention.

I recall it the conversation as such.

You said you planned to go into gunsmithing and wanted the store to send work with you and have them send ou business. I think I warned you that making a living on Gunsmithing can be brutal and you shoud rethink it.

Apparently I should have given you my reasons for not working with you rather than trying to spare our feelings.

At the time of the conversation you had less than 6 months experience working in a firearms store. At time you worked for the store your knowledge of firearms was limited as best. You have no formal gunsmithing training or experience.

The store already had a relationship with a "Classical" trained gunsmith as well as a company who has experience and a history in Refinishing etc. When asked about gunsmithing we refer business to him and I will say " He is a classically trained gunsmith, not a guy who read a book or watched a video and thinks he is a gunsmith". We do no in house repairs due to the insurance expense vs income.

So Nick, I hope you can see my point in not beginning a business relationship with you. At the time -
    • Very basic firearms knowledge
    • No Training
    • No experience.

I hope your business does well for you. As I am not aware of any formal training you've taken since,we still can not in good concious recommend your company for custom work.

However, I would be more than happy to help you twick your website at no charge. I reviewed the coding of your site and there a few basic corrections which would help your ranking.

Ok Guys and gals I have busted my forum cherry, not sure when I can come back. It is just to hard to speak without my usual colorful language. Although 3 grand daughters has mellowed my "Cop" mouth.

The clarification is appreciated. Your "IT" person's ham-handed pesudo-official approach wasn't going over well. You did well to rid yourself of him.

That being said, I agree that this thread will be hot and will probably not be pleasant but hopefully some good will come out of it.

    Mike,

Thank you for the response. As someone who has shopped and shot there, it does mean something to have you come here and post.

I would however caution keeping your screen name what it is. INGO has a very strict policy on advertising. We have paid advertisers on here and it would not be fair to them.

I am in no way a Mod or trying to be one. Just letting your know of the policy. There is an INGO FAQ that outlines this.

Thanks for watching out. I have PM'ed Mike about the general and advertising rules, and have asked him to refrain from posting further until we can get his user name changed (that's an Admin-level function).

Wow compared to the other guy that posted, this guy is very articulate and spells well...I personally can't speak poorly about Pop's because it's been at least 5-6 years since I visited the store. The few things i do remember were that the store was clean, nice range, and they seemed to have a good selection of firearms and accessories. I have no clue what it is like in there now so i can't comment. I guess i'd say its refreshing to see the true other side not the "I.T.'s" point of view...

    Thanks Again!

:patriot: Good to see problems may soon disapear if any were present. Have bought 2 pistols from Pop Guns and had a range membership, until I lost my good paying job and could no longer afford the yearly Fee. I need some range time so I'll probably be back! Good luck, and be well!

I have always maintained much respect for Mike.Hell,I used to buy all his close out stuff at the 1500 for many years.I think I bought out his last Oakley inventory too.He will always remain a colorful character and I am used to 'cop talk' as i say it too.

Good luck with the store and hopefully Michael will make a go of the venue!
