So . . . . . . . the Democrats have been screaming for as long as I can recall that Republicans donÂ’t care about middle income wage earners and that weÂ’ve lost the manufacturing base in the US because of it. No matter that most trade agreements, including NAFTA, are heavily weighted in favor of foreign governments. Yes, all tariffs are ultimately paid by the end user. However, the same is true of all taxes. So, if those are immutable facts, then the tariff funds at least end up in corporate America. In theory, tariffs imposed should at least result in more on shore manufacturing, greater employment, and rising incomes. IÂ’ve heard liberal after liberal claim they would gladly pay more if it meant manufacturing jobs could be regained.

If the argument is presented that only corporate America will benefit, I would ask whether that would result in a stronger stock market and, ultimately, stronger 401k savings ?

On the other hand, even though taxes are also paid by the end user, the primary beneficiary of taxes is big government fostered by self serving politicians. One can certainly argue that taxes pay for infrastructure, law enforcement, social services, etc. as that is pretty much a given. The greater issue is whether, and to what extent, the government at various levels should be responsible for these services ? Democrats say infinitely more - Republicans say finitely less. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need(s).” Karl Marx

Even more than Woodrow Wilson, Henry Kissinger, Nelson Mandela, Teddy Roosevelt, George Marshall, or the UN Peace Keeping Forces? :dunno:

Did this meme come from the Russians or Al Qaeda? I don't even understand how it's funny.

As a grade school math teacher would say, "show your work."

Since you enjoyed that so much, have some more.

You would think that would be in International Business 101.

The imported goods are so cheap native companies can't be competitive and close, Killing jobs in their wake.
increase the imported prices so that native companies can once again compete and or be cheaper, increasing a demand for more locally produced goods and producing jobs. Business 101

set in place something that hurts the countries you want to renegotiate trade deals with. Then use that something as a bargaining chip in the trade deal discussions. Art of the deal.
