Hopefully Rand is a little more libertarian than his anti-abortion father.
Abortion is unpleasant and a difficult personal, moral, and ethical choice, but the State telling a woman that she does not control her own body, even that with life in it, perturbs me. The better solution is to convince the woman of other options, not to force her to conceive life which she does not wish to bring into this world.

Just ask Nicolae Ceausescu how well forced anti-abortion policies work...

When I say I want the State to keep its heavy hands out my pocket and out of my life, I absolutely mean it. Hopefully Rand can deliver where his father has failed.

It sounds, so far at least, as though he shall.

Plus one for our cousins in Dixie.

Well, I guess I can't win 'em all.

Still, by far not a bad candidate in my book.

There is no reason why a Libertarian cannot be pro-life. In fact most consistent Libertarians I know are pro-life, it is generally the inconsistent or weaker thinking Libertarians who seem to be pro-abortion.

As a doctor he considers the start of life at conception, which is also where most religious people consider the start of life. That said, a Libertarian would not advocate the rights of one person should exceed the rights of another. Therefore the rights of the mother do not have primacy over the rights of the fetus/baby. Nor should the rights of the fetus/baby exceed those of the mother. In true libertarian thought they both have equal rights.

Very good to see. +1 for our neighbors south of us. Too bad we couldn't follow that example in our own Senate race. We allowed the establishment to choose for us. Kentucky just announced to the establishment that they would choose for themselves.

If we are going to get into the stance of its not the government's decision to tell a woman that she cannot kill a baby, then why does that stance not apply to killing another person? I feel that if you are going to believe the abortion stance, you should also take the stance that people should not be punished for murdering another person.

In order to believe that abortion is legal, you also have to believe that the founding of this country is wrong. Our founding fathers believed this country was given by God; they would have hung the people who performed and women who wanted the abortions performed.

    Way to go Kentucky.

If Ron Paul could have just written things down instead of saying them. His voice makes dogs howl for blocks, especially when he gets excited. But a great man who dares to be who he is and doesn't pander to the politic.

Actually, a lot of pro life people make the same argument that DustinG is making. No reason to call someone a troll over a point that is pretty common for those who take the time to be educated on what both sides of spectrum are saying.

Back on topic....I think Rand is a great choice for Kentucky and will help equal out the field a little more in Washington.

    Sanctity of Life

    Rand Paul is pro-life.
    so is Ron Paul.

Check out the Sanctity of Life Bill he has introduced into to Congress on numerous occasions. It recognizes that Life begins at conception, and that as people unborn children should be afforded equal protection under the law. We have laws for murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The 14th amendment should provide the Constitutional authority to see that the unborn receive protection from being murdered.
