First one I went through was "Hurricane Beulah" (linky) when I was 12yrs old. Piqued my continuing interest.
That one was big, too, but one major difference not often presented regarding Helene, is that most of the Big Girls in history were formed in the Atlantic or just off the coast of Africa and traversed the Atlantic, building power.

Helene was formed in the Gulf, just off the Mexican coast. Not sure why that point is not being claxoned from the highest hill. This Gal steamed up fast and strong in days, not weeks.

Got my shower, shaved and now making out the grocery list. I guess I don't have a rain jacket. Thought I had a Frogg's Toggs jacket but I must've gotten rid of it. There's one in the closet, but it must be Susan's. Too small for me.
