Fishing done, lunch over, and wife took girls over to the beach. So I get some alone time.

Finishing packing, purchased & printed my fishing license online, etc. for the trip to Erie. Just finished buying license one of our group. Poor guy is almost blind. Severe diabetes. Bunch of toes are or were taken off. 3 years ago he had one leg amputated below the knee and missed our trip. 2 weeks ago had part of his remaining foot amputated. Says he is healed enough to go…I don’t know how he is gonna do it if lake is ruff…and it almost always is. Add insult to injury his wife left him about 1 1/2 years ago. Just about broke him.

I found a huge blackberry patch...all the berries are red. I have a feeling the critters are feasting. The blueberry bushes look decent but all of the berries on them are not ripe. I didn't think the blueberry bushes were even viable anymore as overgrown as that area has gotten, but surprisingly little poison ivy was to be found. Looks like the deer sleep in there under the sassafras trees that have grown up between the bushes.

When I was mowing, I noticed that the passenger side rear view mirror had fallen off Susan's van (again). Had to epoxy it back on. Hopefully it will hold for another few years.

I am enjoying a nice breeze on the porch. Making a ham pasta dish for supper using zucchini instead of peas. May try out the first sweet corn with it. We got a sneak trial bag...picking starts tomorrow officially. Cole didn't want to wait for me to cook it and sampled while we husked it.

OK done mowing. No trim mower, no string trimmer, just ride and fast today. Visibility is really decreasing. I can’t see house at all half mile down the shoreline. App says 153 air quality now.
