    Warning, some of this is so ridiculous you'll spit out your coffee. So put it down...

    Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

    Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

    Who released this? Who is the self-appointed leader?

    There are people of all stripes out there. From Tea Partiers to Communists. Its impossible, and dishonest, to try and pigeonhole them all under one banner or set of "demands." Some of the protesters only joined in to protest the police brutality on the original protesters! The only thing that unites them all is that they are upset.

    I found this video of a guy calling for an end to the centralized bank known as the Federal Reserve. I doubt that he is on board with more centralized government power.

    Ram, someone is defining the "Occupy" label. Someone is taking ownership and creating an identity. Anyone who chooses to take advantage of that by participating in their activities necessarily becomes associated with it. There is no pigeon-holing except what people are doing to themselves.

    A very high percent of these people are socialist/communist. Not all but most. This is the start of the European style riots in America. Won't be long.

    That guy is in the minority then. Most of the videos I've seen of the protestors (when they weren't getting their faces bashed or pepper sprayed) were idiots who were complaining because they went to school and now they have to pay back their student loan debt, or because the 1% is privatizing the government to victimize the 99%. :n00b:

    After 9:00am Eastern time, check out the NPR story on this:
    Occupy Wall Street: Where Everybody Has A Say In Everything : Planet Money : NPR

    :D

    (Carefully wording this next part to avoid the "overthrow the gov't" content warning.)

    The structure of the story is thus:
    - establish the democratic nature of the group;
    - bury the lede when the communications guy says that one of their goals is the overthrow of the government;
    - conclude with how at least 1 Teamsters local passed a resolution of support for the group.

    Irony-laden bits:
    - Apparently the far left and far right align in a common goal when it comes to restoring anarchy.
    - A Union backing a group that favors egalitarianism and advocates the overthrow of the gov't.
    - The lack of history majors in the group; at least, no one appears familiar with the problems associated with the Articles of Confederation.

    Wait, I actually like this idea... do away with NAFTA and charge companies to import their goods from other countries (Do you think people in other country's don't pay import tariffs to their country when they import U.S.A. goods?)

    Sure, there's something for everybody in these idiots' demands. Of course, everywhere these demands have been implemented they have failed, but as T. Lex notes upthread, not many history majors in the group, evidently.
