...and today while searching through the kitchen for something I use constantly and own like 4 of but the woman always seems to leave in weird places. Then it hit me. NONE of my bug-out bags or car kits of larger long-term totes have ANY inside.

A freaking CAN OPENER.

Sure, I have one on my keychain, but the chance of those not being lost in a STHF isn't very good.

*sigh* that wonderful moment when you go look at backpacks of food supplies and realize most of it would be useless to you as you can't GET to it.

Anyone else have a "wow i am an idiot" prep moment?

As a teenager I went camping one time, no one brought a can opener except a p-38.
That's a lot of work to feed a dozen people.

I know a woman that only used a P38 to open cans with. I had an electric can opener and she thought I was silly. She said for what I paid for the can opener she could out fit a kitchen. Then she used a potato smasher to make mashed potatoes and I use a mixer.

I found p38s on Amazon for cheap, so I bought 30 of them. That was 2 years ago, and I have absolutely no idea as to where I put that frikken bag! I've ordered more since then, but I'd sure like to find that bag.
