Of the total of 44 US Presidents, Obama was rated the 5th best president ever! I was just reading a Democratic publicity release that said, "...after a little more than four years, Obama has been rated the 5th best president ever."

The details according to White House Publicists:

* Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and seven others tied for first.

* 15 presidents tied for second.

* 17 other presidents tied for third.

* Jimmy Carter came in fourth.

* And, Obama came in fifth.

I feel stupid. I got hung up on 5th place. The article should read 43rd for Carter, 44th Obama for us less-bright people. It's Friday OK!

Here's why. Take a good look at what the OP really says.

In other words, THIRTY-NINE (39!) presidents (7 "1sts" +15 "2nds" +17 "3rds") rank HIGHER than Carter or Obama.

So, Carter's so-called 4th rank is really 40th!

Obama's so-called 5th rank is really 41!

So really, there are only 3 presidents LEFT (44-41) to rank lower than Obama. And that may be just about right.
