YOU AGREED TO THE UPDATE IN A PRIOR UPDATE YOU SAY OK TO WITHOUT READING ALL THAT AGREE TO TEXT.
    :)

You and a lot of people are in the same boat.
You are missing 8.1 drivers for some of your stuff and this why the issues.
Good luck finding those drives only.

While it may be bad for you just imaging what it did to small biz owners.

    So anyone else what .223?
I hear gg is buying it for us.

    Burn 'em all.

Since the FORCED update this afternoon ...

I had a devil of a time trying to get on the internet. For some reason, the computer no longer "sees" the wire thingy connection anymore. I have to use the wireless now ... something I hate to do when there are personal financial tasks to be accomplished. Guess what I had to do this evening? ...

Tried logging into my bank accounts and none of my banks "recognized" my computer anymore. Had to complete a dozen security steps before I could log in.

Couldn't use my printer. I had to look for and reinstall drivers that even now are incomplete. I have only basic use of my printer. It's asking for the installation disk. Guess what? ... IT DIDN'T COME WITH ONE!

I've had about a dozen requests for updates and restarts now.

I'm quietly screaming inside right now.

    Buy a Mac

    NO ...... WAY!!!
They are worse then MS in terms of shoving things down your throat.
Not only do they just shove it down your throat you also pay a premium for it and enjoy taking it up the ...!

Our only hope left is Windows 10 but we won't see that until Spring (at the earliest) of next year.
I just hope that Windows 10 is like XP in terms of finally giving us what we want (ie. stable OS that can run for years).
Too bad it's not here for the holidays.

Windows 10 has had some great reviews... MAC is fine if your going to buy their software for it at a premium and basically use it to access websites that don't support flash.... I do like the way MAC does the partition of the drive and allows you to re-install the OS without having to re-install all the programs but that is where I stop liking it....

You could try Ubuntu but a lot of stuff doesn't work in it either as far as adobe stuff.....

WD you sound like you had a bad experience with the update, I've done more than a dozen of the 8 to 8.1's with nothing more than the update time and then I was back off to the races....

Off course it's not going to work right for WD. He is the SJ Snob and as such MS and the world has it out for him when it comes to his computer. ;)
I'm so glad that the sol laptop at home that is running WIN 8 I turned off all UPDATES when we got it.
HATE that machine but do love it's speed.
