Just took another walk. Pole is snapped right below the t portion where wires ride in alley behind gas station. Definitely wasn't a car. No way for a car to go faster than 5mph back there and being snapped at the top it couldn't be a car. Usually when the racoons/squirrels blow a transformer i hear it if its close enough and this definitely is close. Bad thing is nipsco truck was sitting there and while i was there he drove away. Power Lines are laying in the grass right now..

Woohoo. Power just came back on. Must of bypassed that pole or something

Now Jedi you can't involve the raccoons in all this. They have been at your place enjoying the lights and warmth and of course your food and drink...

We have moved so many of them to your place it is like a new community of little fury black masked critters .

Power outages, pole fires, people throwing gasoline in other people's faces...you guys need to settle down over there.

    Portable heater yes.
Genny...hum. nah unless u have critical needs for power.
    Oxygen tank, etc...

Otherwise long term its not worth it in this area.

That's why you need a generator and/or back up heater.

Ive got a genny, but dont tend to break that out unless i have to. Nipsco had us up and running in an hour n half so it worked out fairly well. Definitely was nice that the temps were rising outside and didnt need the furnace

    oxygen tank?

and the generator is nice for running the house furnace. Better than the little heater.

My grandmother had one of those oxygen machines with the tubes to the nose. The machine ran on power with a 1hr battery. She needed it to breath. In cases like that i say yes a genny for those critical life support systems.

Furnace need not work if u can do portable propane heaters. Its cost vs time things to consider. Ive gone both route n for this urban area we are in the genny is not worth the investment.

Matter of opinion. It is just another form of insurance.

Our NG generator is a necessity at this point for us.
