40M rounds per year ONLY for ICE? That seems like a lot to me... They'd have to expend 110,000 rounds every DAY to use it all in that time frame.

The latter one is for the military, not neccesarily the ICE. ATK always will get the big military one. Any time Rock Island issues a PO, almost a guarantee its going to ATK.

As for the ICE: Maybe it is purchased under the ICE, but distributed to the parent organization "Homeland Security"? Also, I wonder what they are using now, in regards to round type and weight? If so, surplus hitting the streets? :D (yeah, right, dream on! :D ).

Does that mean Winchester will devote most of their capacity to the government, and we lowly civilians will have a hard time seeing WWB value packs in Wally World from now on?...

That's flat crazy. Like VUPDblue said, that's 110,000 rounds A DAY. Even if it's for all of DHS, they actually think personnel will burn that amount a day practicing on the range?

200 million rounds. The conspiracy folks will have a rupture on that. Heck, I'm kinda wondering just what they think is coming that would require that amount.

The LEAST they could have done was mix in some .45's. I've swapped or sold all my .40 guns. If I have to liberate some ammo off a vest, .40's won't do me any good.

That's when you grab the 40 they were carrying and go. ;)

But as said above, that's alot of ammo for only 5 years. Although they could be stocking up for longer t han that so they don't have to buy any for a while. :dunno:

Having searched the FBO pages every day for a good while now, you would be shocked at how many Federal agencies are equipping there employees with handguns and M4 carbines, sniper rifles, and Winchester isn't the only company that's getting orders. Federal is selling 9mm and especially 40's to Uncle Sugar by the millions. FGGM in .308 is in big demand by a bunch of agencies. With all the copper and lead [new and recycled] being sold to China and India combined with our dwindling natural resources, new brass for commercial sale could be on the negative side for a while. With so many people buying the steel cased ammo to try and save a buck, it might come back to bite us in the back side one of these day. We live in very interesting times for now.

Maybe they plan to store it in their new $3.4 billion dollar headquarters, the largest construction project in DC since they built the Pentagon 68 years ago! This will house 15,000 federal employees who are paid with our tax dollars to spy on us. Incredible!

It says MAXIMUM of 200 million rounds. Which means the contract will allow them to purchase up to 200 million. I would guess the actual figure would be a lot lower...
