Michigan City Rifle Club, Michigan City, IN will host a five (5) day Youth Shooting Camp June 22-26, 2015. The camp will run from 9:00AM to 4:00PM each day for youth in the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] thru 12[SUP]th[/SUP] grades. The camp will be conducted by NRA Certified Instructors. After successful completion of the camp, each camper will earn a certificate in NRA First Steps Rifle, Shotgun, and 2 Days of Project Appleseed, incorporating Rifle Marksmanship with history from the American Revolutionary War.

The course introduces the student to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for responsibly using firearms safely. Through this camp, students will learn about firearms parts and operation; ammunition, gun safety, and shooting fundamentals. The class will include instruction in firing smallbore rifles, and shotguns.

Each student will receive NRA Student Packets in each class. The camp will conclude on Friday afternoon, 26 June with a family picnic and awards ceremony sponsored by Brownells / NRA. Adult members of the family will have an opportunity to try their hand at the shooting sports.

Fee for the camp is $125.00 per camper and includes lunch each day. Thru a grant from the Friends of the NRA, Michigan City Rifle Club will provide all firearms, targets, eye & hearing protection, and ammunition. Camp size is limited. Registration received after May 1, 2015 is $150.00

Michigan City Rifle Club is a non-profit 501 (c) (7) organization established in 1935. The purpose of this organization is to encourage organized rifle, pistol, shotgun, and other forms of shooting competition among citizens of the United States, and to further a more complete knowledge of safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as to improve marksmanship.

This is a great opportunity to get the kids started early as safe and responsible future gun owners - there are still a few openings available.
