This beautiful Colt is one of the most desirable variations of the 70 Series Combat Commander pistols. The combination of the satin Nickel factory finish and .38 Super chambering is very scarce and sought-after. This particular example is in very good all-original condition overall. The factory satin Nickel finish is still clean and bright, showing some handling/storage marks. The bore is excellent and mirror-bright in this pistol, showing sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no visible imperfections or erosion. The original checkered Walnut grips are like-new. Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, scratches, repairs, or visible wear. The checkering is still clean and crisp. Both grips have clean screws with straight heads on them, and both grips are tight to the frame with no wiggle. The slide to frame fit on this Combat Commander is superb with no slop, and all of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order. When worked by hand the action is slick and precise, and the barrel locks into battery perfectly with the slide forward. This Colt comes with 2 original factory 9-round magazine, also in satin Nickel. I have no doubt that if the new owner chooses to shoot this Colt that it would function perfectly. This 1974-production satin Nickel Combat Commander in .38 Super would be an Good addition to any Colt collection. With all vintage Colt pistols chambered in .38 Super continuing to rapidly appreciate in value every year, this Combat Commander should continue to be an excellent long-term investment.
