Well I've finally replaced my electrocuted waved Endura.

For this next EDC knife, I had a few criteria:

    • Quality company
    • Blade length greater than 3"
    • Straight edge
    • Grip long enough to use as pommel when gripped
    • Quality blade steel that I had at least heard of before
    • G-10 scales
    • Non liner-lock
    • Sturdy pocket clip that won't snag or bend
    • Sub-$100 price tag
I had also looked at the Benchmade Vex and ZT 0350. In the end, the ball-bearing lock, coupled with the price, gave the Manix 2 the nod.

    First impressions are quite positive.

The ball-bearing lock makes for a silky smooth opening and a sharp click when it locks into place. The G-10 is grippy enough to not slip, but slick enough to not rub my hand raw when I reach into my pocket. The pocket clip is very strong and does not stick out, although I might replace it with a black one to make it a bit more low-profile at work. Uber-jimping aids in a secure grasp, and the overall weight is enough to know its there, but not enough to be bothersome.

When closed, the profile is much wider than the Endura-- not a bad thing, but it does take up a bit more pocket space.

Thanks goes to INGOer Glock Lover for keeping this thing so darn nice-- it looks brand new!

The handle outline on that thing looks like it would really fit well in the hand. Got my first spydie cage locked knife recently, and couldn't be happier with it.

As boring as this sounds, the most routine thing my EDC folder does is open deposit envelopes here at work.

Today was the first time trying this with the new Manix. HOLY CRAP! It cut through the thick paper envelope like it was nothing, MUCH smoother than the Endura. In fact, its almost too easy, as it starts slicing the moment the blade touches the paper and won't cut in a straight line because it just keeps slicing. I can't slide the blade in between the sides without it slicing something. Good problem to have I guess. . . . lol

So I've carried my Manix 2 daily for a year and a half now. I'm still very impressed with how well its kept its edge.

I went hiking today and got it out for a couple glamor shots.

I carry the Manix 2 I picked up from Brad a few 1500's ago as my work knife Monday thru Friday, and then my Chris Reeve Ummumzaan on the weekends.

Great looking knife! I've been thinking about grabbing one or a Paramilitary.
Have you had any issues with the lock slipping when the spine is hit?

There are a few Utube vids about it. There were some folks that were trying stab at things when the spine-side of the tip would strike first the lock would fail.
