Hi everybody ... looking for some advice on where to find rabbits around Franklin. I don't have a dog (at least not one that's interested in going outside:):) and have really not done a lot of hunting. Now that I have kids, I want to learn to hunt and thought small game would be a good place to start. I've tried Atterbury, but from my experience and the posts I've seen that may be a pretty tough place to go. Anyone who could recommend better places south or west of Indy would be appreciated. What about Morgan Monroe...?

    mshayse,

Good to see you on here. If advice is what you are after, then you have come to the right place. I have not seen another website that has so many people that know so much. I would say right now, go anywhere and look for tracks in the snow. Normally, I have no idea, but in the last two days I have seen several tracks in Atterbury. Good luck.

Wow thanks for those links - hunting indiana is a great site. I'm also kinda new to hunting and am having a heck of a time finding some coyote hunting land. Anyway - thanks again.

rabbits are scarce because of the cyote population. if you find a good spot dont over do it, because it will take a long time to repopulate with so many cyotes out there in IN.

small game is becoming scarce around my place. I'm blaming the coyote population. I've doing a lot of scouting and calling to figure out their patterns. I miss the days of bag limits on squirrels and rabbits

My brother and I went for the first time 3 weeks ago. Limited out in 3 hours with no dogs.

Nice! I used to go rabbit hunting seemed like every weekend. It's much for fun when you see them. Looks like you're not having any problem finding them. We used to go to the same small thicket and nail 'em every time......I remember like it was yesterday........AH the good ole days.
    Nice pics!

Guys there are opportunities out there for hunting but in addition to public land go out and meet landowners and ask permission. Rabbits can be found almost any where the is cover!

Register here, look around. You will find a lot from Indiana and may even find someone willing to take you out for a hunt. But rabbit season is over as of Feb 15 will open Oct. 1 on state land Nov. 1 on public.
