Since moving to our new facility in May, we have been steadily building our infrastructure and including new manufacturing technologies to improve our products. We have made significant investments in capital equipment and tooling that will not only make our holsters better, but will also begin to reduce our production times.

It has been very difficult to contain our excitement and keep this secret these past several months as we ramped up, but it was necessary for us to be tight-lipped due to the ever-growing numbers of “competitors” who have shamelessly attempted to copy every aspect of our business.

And so, after many months of development and testing, we are excited to begin rolling out our new modular hardware for the Phantom and Phantom LC holsters.

    Standard OWB Belt Loops
These are our standard OWB belt loops that come with every Phantom holster or Modular Carrier. We have recently upgraded our belt loops. They are now made from a nearly unbreakable high-strength polymer. You can order these as spares, upgrades to your current gear, or in a different belt size. Note, 2" loops are still made from Kydex.

    IWB Soft Loops
RCS is pleased to introduce our own proprietary soft loop. This new loop is designed to address some shortcomings of other loops on the market today.

These loops are made from a U.S. made, high-tech laminate with a woven Kevlar core and super tough polymer over-mold. They will not stretch and even abrasive nylon webbing belts will not wear them out easily. The rubber overmold provides plenty of grip on the belt to prevent shifting during use. We are using mil-spec Pull the Dot directional snaps and our own proprietary stainless steel hardware that we melonite to ensure years of maintenance free use.

These loops are adjustable and will fit most belts 1.25", 1.5", and 1.75" wide. They come with all needed hardware to mount them directly to our Phantom series holsters or Modular Carriers. Please note, the snaps on these loops can be very tight when you first get them. If you have difficulty unsnapping them, use a flat blade screw driver or similar tool. Insert it between the male and female snap heads on the outside of the loop and twist to open them. After several times opening and closing, they will loosen up for you.

Please note- Soft loops will not be ready to ship until November 14th, 2010.

    IWB Tuckable Soft Loops
RCS is please to introduce our new and improved Tuckable Soft Loops. These loops utilize our new, nearly unbreakable, polymer struts and our improved Soft Loops.

This option will mount in various position on your Phantom holster or Modular carrier to allow you to customize your ride and cant. You can mount them at two points or one point to allow them to pivot. They will also allow you to tuck your cover garment in over the weapon for maximum concealment. You can link these loops to our Offset Wings for an even slimmer tuckable carry rig. This option will mount with the included hardware that comes with your holster or carrier. We do have spare hardware kits available. As always, we recommend that once you find a configuration you like, apply some non-permanent thread locking product to the screws to prevent them from backing out during use and check your gear regularly.

Please note, we do not recommend you carry your holster with the mouth of the holster below the belt line. While it may make the weapon easier to conceal, you might experience draw and retention issues. Reholstering is also a safety concern when the pants are blocking the open mouth of the holster. You are also compromising your ability to get a full firing grip on the weapon for an efficient presentation during a defensive encounter.

Please note- Soft loops will not be ready to ship until November 14th, 2010.

    IWB Tuckable C Hooks
C-hooks provide an excellent balance of low profile and support. They present a very small visual clip on the belt, but fully transmit the load of the holster to the belt for support. The upper hook is slightly shorter than the lower to allow some belts to "snap" into place in the hook. Be aware that some thick or stiff belts will need to be threaded through the hook.

    IWB Tuckable J Hooks
J-hooks are a very low profile IWB option for the Phantom holsters and Modular carriers. Please be aware that J-hooks only prevent the holster from coming out with the weapon during the draw. They do not transmit any load to the belt. This means the holster will be supported only by the inward tension of the belt and the waistband of your pants. Please note, the picture is for display purposes only, we do not recommend J-hooks for larger, heavier weapons.

    IWB Offset Wing
This wing can be used with any of our tuckable IWB options. The wing is made of a nearly unbreakable polymer. It is flexible to allow it to conform to your body, but it still retains some rigidity for structural support and ease of use. By mating this wing to an IWB Tuckable option, it will spread out the load on the belt, make the system thinner, and allow easier tucking of the cover garment.

We have designed these to be mountable in several different positions on the holster body. You can also choose to mount the tuckable option with one or two screws to allow it to swivel or not. This will allow you to try many different ride heights and cant options to tailor the holster to fit your specific needs. All needed hardware is included with the wings. As with all our hardware, we recommend that once you find a set up that you like, use some non-permanent thread locking product on your screws to help keep them from backing out. Be sure to check you gear regularly.

Please note, we do not recommend you carry your holster with the mouth of the holster below the belt line. While it may make the weapon easier to conceal, you may experience draw and retention issues. Reholstering is also a safety concern when the pants are blocking the open mouth of the holster. You are also compromising your ability to get a full firing grip on the weapon for an efficient presentation during a defensive encounter.
IWB loop or hook is NOT included. This is only the offset wing adaptor and mounting hardware.

Another change you might notice is that we have deleted some of our less popular Eclipse modular accessories from the online storefront at The Malabar Front. This was done to streamline the product line, thereby decreasing delivery times.

And lastly, a few random shots:

Absolutely. Our sprues contain enough material to make almost one more set of loops.

We have a custom blend of polymers we're using for the new loops that we developed after extensive testing. We're saving and re-using every bit of it! :)

    More!

Note- This post is not the big announcement I alluded to yesterday. These are just more innovations from RCS!

    A completely re-designed Pancake Wing.

We have offered the Pancake Wings for years now, as an option to pull our already close-fitting gear even closer to your body. While they were functional, in the end, they did not meet our durability requirements.

We have launched a new Pancake Wing that is more consistent, more versatile, and much more durable.

These loops are designed to mount in their standard position as shown in the picture, known as "bird out" based on the logo on the wing.

However, for users who wish to experiment with their settings, you can also flip them over and mount them "bird in" (the left loop will then become the right, and vice versa, the bird always points up) This will draw the item even closer yet to the body, so close that some stiff gun belts (Ares Ranger, for example) may have trouble fitting through in this configuration. Most standard Riggers or Instructor style belts will still fit. This is about as solid and close fitting as you can get!

The wings can also be mounted to the face or the back of the item, and either "bird in" or "bird out." This will yet again give a slightly different feel and ride.

As with our other gear, they can also be moved up or down the rivet line to adjust ride height and cant of the holster.

In the end, you have 32 different ways to configure one set of Pancake Wings on a holster!

    5140584736_ec4825c5cf_z.jpg

Note- My personal preference is to mount them in the "standard" configuration, but there are a ton of different combination's for the end user to try.
