Need ideas for Stag Model 6 Super Varminter .223 optic.

So I have bought this weapon, 24" SS heavy barrel in 5.56/223. I figure it for a decent medium dx rifle with its 1/2 MOA guarantee. What would be a decent optic for a beginner for <= $500? Thanks!

I've had a Bushnell ar 223 4.5 x 18 x 40mm on my coyote rifle for about two years and couldn't be happier with it! For the money ( 150.00 amazon ) you can't go wrong.
