    I just got a gun that someone has painted? the front site. How can I remove it with out hurting the finish?

    Depends on the type of paint. Did you try using your fingernail and scraping it off?

    A mild stripper might be useful.
    Try mineral spirits or Brake parts cleaner on a rag.
    If not citri-strip.

    duct tape. Put a strip of duct tape on it, use a fingernail to really get it on good and leave it for a day or two. When you take off the tape most of the paint should come off.
