Hey, I just joined the forum. Good to be here.

    I have a question about a S&W .357 Magnum revolver, Model 19-4.
I feel inclined to add, that I purchased the gun for $25, because the previous owner thought the gun was ruined, due to some severe surface rust on the cylinder.

I, however, am just gonna replace the cylinder. (Brilliant!) But I can't figure out how to remove it. Anybody know how?

You need to remove the screw that holds the crane (? correct name) out and remove the whole thing from the frame. The screw is one of the two on the side of the gun, the other helps to hold the side plate on. Once out you can remove the cylinder from the crane and just refinish it. I bought an old model 13 that was rusted up pretty good. I took it apart, bead blasted it and the reblued it. It ended up with a nice matte black appearance and looked pretty nice. If you order a new cylinder it would have to be fit to the gun and timed. I'm sure some of the gunsmiths on here know way more than I on the subject. I'll give ya $50 for it unseen!! LOL. Good luck with it.
