Just got back yesterday from a little prairie doggin' with a grandson in the Nebraska sandhills. Butte, Spencer, Atkinson area. 35 mph winds killed us Monday. We took around 30 shots total and killed 5 dogs. The wind was brutal and the p dogs were very skittish. Tuesday the wind was down to around 10 mph and we had a great day. The dog towns were small so we started with rim fires. Ended up shooting 2 CZ HMRs and my 10/22 magnum all day. We never uncased a center fire and shot right at 500 rds. For the record, a .17 HMR is pretty rude to a p dog at 50 yards.

That sounds like a great trip! I just got a .17 HMR and can't wait to see it in action!

Have'nt tried NE yst. Been going up to SD for the last six years, in fact I'm leaving this coming saturday for a few days of p'dog shooting. I'm hoping to better my 275 yards with my savage 17, and 750 with my 6mmbr.
