My girlfriend and I were at Marrot Park tonight and we came across this very weird stuff coming out of an old chopped down vine. It was like half dried ice cream, but it was coming from the plant, and covered in bugs. It was coming from where the vine was cut and it was dripping steadily what I assume is water, but what is the colorful stuff? Why is it colorful? And what is it's purpose?

I am pretty sure that is just the sap of the vine. I have seen this before when i have chopped vines and come back a few days later.

I still think it's slime mold...

But all the insects in it may make me change my mind.

Could someone go out and cut a vine like this and tell me what color THAT sap is? Freshly cut?
