On the heals of the growing National Tea Party protests, with ~40 cities participating on 2/27, the next phase has been announced for April 15th here in Indy among other cities!

Many people couldn't make the first round because it was declared on short notice and wasn't convenient (Chicago, Clevelend, and St. Louis were the closest). Well, those obstacles are now gone and the next phase will be on Tax Day. If you can't get upset about out-of-control government spending on that day, them I'm afraid you are a lost cause.

SirRealism, hornadylnl, and I went to Chicago and met a number of Indy people up there. I'm hoping that we will have a great turnout in April.

All the details have not been finalized yet, but you can get more info here:

This is a great cause to get involved in.

Neil Cavuto politely belittled our protest in Chicago last week, based solely on numbers. (There were a few hundred people with just a week's notice.) And he's right. If enough people are upset enough, then we'll be heard. Numbers speak.

The problem is that the people who obey the law, pay their taxes, and, above all, who value self-sufficiency and abhor government intrusion, tend to keep to ourselves. This must change.

(It was actually a little funny last week, seeing all us conservatives in Chicago, completely unaware of how to protest. It took quite a few blocks before we became really vocal. I think it was when the chant "Socialism Sucks!!!" started that I really got into it. I saw nobody who openly objected to our message. Several people rolled down their windows and yelled "Thank you!" That felt great. (Those people were too busy working to attend the protest -- another common problem among conservatives. :D))

Another problem is that its not common for the general populace to be free during the day on a weekday. Jobs and such. Those with rotating schedules are even harder to nail down.

Totally agree and understandable. That's why giving as much notice as possible is important. Anyone who agree's with this protest needs to try to make the time. If you value your savings/investments, your family's future, and the direction of the country, then taking a couple of hours is a trivial investment. If you disagree with the current directions of "our dear leader", then doing nothing is simply bending over and taking it.

Yep, that's what I was trying to say in the last sentence. Earning a living certainly gets in the way. It's easier for me because I'm self-employed.

If you can't make it, be sure to spread the word to others.

Sorry, I read too fast and missed your last line. This brings up a good point- if you have vacation days, why not spend one on a worthy cause. Or, if the only repercussion for taking time off work is your wages that day- is this not a worth-while cause? Could you in 5 years buy back your freedom with a days wages?
