Ok the job offer came in today. 12k raise plus other perks. Now the question looking at getting a safe from tsc as company will not move a gun safe. So I was looking at getting some thing that would keep out prying eyes. From past experience seems like some will go where they have no business being like inside dresser drawers etc. Any suggestions? I think I can move the ammo to an out building and just lock it up period. Thought about doing the same with the small arms. The space is not heated however it is weather tight and dry. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Don't have a safe. Looking at trying to possibly do something small I could move my self. Up until now the small arms were stored in a secured room with a solid door and reinforced door frame. Unfortunately locked doors seem to raise questions etc. Unfortunately we have no family here so I was looking for some other viable ideas.

Put them in your vehicle the day the movers are supposed to show up.

Sounds like you are mainly concerned with the movers for now, I like the "lock them in your car" idea mentioned above. As far as ammo, pack it in cardboard boxes not weighing more than 25-30lbs and mark it fragile. Just my $.02. Good luck with your new job!

When my company relocated me to Indiana 11 years ago the moving company offered to move my guns and I declined. I have my Great Grandfathers double barrel shotgun from 1930. It's a Montgomery Ward Shotgun that is absolutely priceless to me and nobody gets to take possession of it.

I wouldn't be afraid to let them move the ammo though. Just do an Inventory of it before they get there. The guns go with me!!!

If you already have a safe can't you contact someone who works with safes and contract them to move it for you? Surely it would be cheaper than buying a new one even if you have to foot the bill. If keeping prying eyes out is your issue then on moving day just keep everything you don't want them to see in your car and cover it up. You're moving, so it won't be a big deal to see a bunch of stuff covered in a vehicle like that.

i think hes asking about what safe you guys would think would fit in a closet, i seen on on youtube that was round and about the size of a water heater that was painted to look like a water heater i doubt most people would notice that.
