I think typically we need a combination of rain and heat to make it nice and humid. I don't think we'll find any in the snow. :)

I believe it needs to get up around the 60's for them to start growing. With any luck it will warm up after this snow coming in today and maybe we could be looking at mid April.

Are they white? They sound like what are called "puff balls". As I understand it, you can eat them at a certain stage but they turn poisonous if you wait too long. See if you can search for "puff ball mushrooms" and maybe you'll find the info you're looking for. Good luck!

Start looking in Central IN just after Easter. Two years ago, I found three five-gallon buckets full in a woods near my house. :)
