How small is small? What are you looking to do?

I could probably get by with a 7 x 10, or a 7 x 12; however, I would like to find a deal on an Atlas, Atlas/Craftsman Commercial, or Southbend, say a 10 x 42 or something in that range.

I found a really nice Craftsman Commercial, with Quick Change gear box and stand, in Kentucky for $400 but the guy sold it to the first person that called. Of course !

I'm not sure I want to do the Harbor Freight thing.

I want to use it to do some gun work and hobby metal projects. I've heard really good things about the Grizzly Gunsmithing lathe; however, its $4000 too ! Which really isn't bad for a lathe with those capabilities. I just want to find something to start out with and maybe upgrade as time goes along.
