As a warning (and to see if anyone know how to fix it) I was cleaning my Ruger P97 and instead of grabbing my Rem-Oil I grabbed my Bore Cleaner and sprayed it onto the plastic. The plastic now has white-ish streaks on it which I can't wipe off. Anyone heard of this? Is there a solution to fix it? :dunno: I hate stupid freakin' things like this! :n00b:

it could be residue left embedded in the plastic.... try copious amounts of oil and some sort of light abbrasive to get into the pores.... if that doesnt work DURACOAT any color of your choice.

    Ouch!

Exactly why I did my Breakfree thread awhile back. Try what these guys have said. I'd be interested to know as I own a poly Ruger myself. I'm guessing the function is OK as the plastic on these frames is very beefy.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Did you spray it with remoil and wipe it down? I've cleaned up glocks and smiths polymers with bore cleaner then oiled them to get the black back.

    I tried them all!

Thanks for the ideas (except the sharpie ;)). I've tried all and more with no luck. The polymer was temporarily softened which didn't help that I touched it when it was soft. Anyway, IndyGunworks suggested Duracoat which I'm paying to have done. They seem to think they can make it better than new. I'll post before and after pics when it's done.
