A tax stamp is not required to thread a barrel - a tax stamp is required to obtain/acquire an NFA item to thread onto said threaded barrel as near as I understand it.

I've bought firearms with threaded barrels from gun shops without a tax stamp - would seem a bit silly to require a stamp for that but, that said, I think all of NFA is silly.

My M&P22 has a threaded barrel from the factory.

Agreed! I think he is just covering his "6" . Yeah, all of my AR's, 2 of my 10-22's , my Ruger 22/45 are all threaded. But I wanted another one done. Like I said, wasn't an issue for me. Not sure, but like he told me ( in a very kind/ joking way) My business, my rules! LOL I didn't have a problem with it. He has sketchy hours because it is a side job for him, so be sure to call first. Very, very nice and affordable.
