What is wrong with Dick Lugar? Nay vote on S. AMDT 1618? I just informed the honorable, and useless Senator that he needs to start looking for a real job via USPS. He's been in DC far too long, and he's lost touch.

He just counts on the sleeping masses to do what they've always done and keep sending him back. I really don't think he's concerned in the slightest with the minority of people who seek to hold him accountable.:noway:

"I very much feel like the novice and pupil," Obama has said of Lugar. And it's warm. Lugar praises Obama's "strong voice and creativity" and calls him "my good friend." In short, the two agree on much and seem to genuinely like each other.

Although we're specifically targeting Bayh statewide on Monday 7/27, here in Indy he and Lugar have offices in the same building. You can come on down and hold up a sign about Lugar... one senator is just as bad as the other.

My e-mail response from Bayh about the Obama National Health Care Fiasco

    Dear Mr. Overburdened TaxPayer,:

Thank you for contacting me regarding health care reform. I appreciate hearing your thoughts and understand your concerns.
The rising cost of health care and the growing number of uninsured Americans has highlighted the critical need for health care reform. Many individuals and families are unable to receive vital health services under the structure of the current system. I receive letters from constituents on a wide range of health care issues, such as prescription drug affordability, tax credits for health care expenses, and coverage of college students. Please know that I am aware of these challenges and committed to improving access to affordable health care and addressing the needs of those who are uninsured.
Earlier this year, the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 was enacted to insure 11 million more children. The legislation included pediatric quality provisions from the Children's Health Care Quality Act (S. 225) that I introduced to address the urgent need to resolve quality care issues widespread in children's health care practices and make publicly available information on the quality of health care provided to children. I have fought successfully for the return of over $150 million in promised federal funds to Indiana to finance health insurance for lower-income Hoosier children. Most recently, I voted for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which was enacted on February 17, 2009. Aimed at creating or saving 3.5 million good-paying jobs nationwide through 2010, the economic recovery package also provides Indiana with an estimated $1.4 billion in additional targeted federal matching funds to prevent Medicaid eligibility cuts and to maintain services.
The economy is an important issue to Americans, and we cannot address the economy without talking about health care. A growing threat to our economy is the skyrocketing cost of health care. The U.S. system is the world's costliest; the country spends some $2.4 trillion a year on health care. An estimated 46 million people are uninsured, and many others lack adequate insurance. Businesses also find themselves in a challenging position to continue to provide health care insurance for their employees. Our priority should be to fix the system as we know it, to ensure that there is access to good, quality health care for Americans.
While we are in the early stages of the debate on health care reform, there are many questions regarding the role of the private and public sector. Due to increasing co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs, many are calling for insurance regulation. Advances in health information technology are also being discussed, as electronic medical records could significantly reduce administrative costs. However, there are serious privacy and security concerns. Accountability measures such as patient notifications and patient control of personal health information must be explored in order to ensure adequate privacy protections.

As the debate unfolds, I support fiscally sound reform built on our current health care system that aims to provide Americans with affordable health care. Rest assured that I will keep your concerns in mind as the debate continues. I will continue to do my best to achieve solvent, bipartisan solutions that provide high-quality, affordable health care to as many Americans as possible.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope the information I have provided has been helpful. My website, http://bayh.senate.gov, can provide additional details about my work in the Senate, including legislation and state projects. You can also sign up for occasional email updates. I value your input and hope you will continue to keep me informed of the issues that matter to you.

I will be more than happy to pony up some money to any credible candidate that runs against Lugar. He is not representing my interests any longer and needs to go.

Reply from Lugar on Health Care

Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts about health care reform. I share the concerns of many regarding proposals to achieve universal health care through a government-run, single-payer system.
I believe that health care reform legislation deserves careful and thoughtful deliberation.
During consideration of the fiscal year 2010 budget resolution, I supported an amendment to ensure that health care reform legislation maintains the ability of people to have personal choice over the doctors they see and the medical treatments that best fit their needs.

When considering reform proposals, I believe that Congress must continue to address the long-term fiscal viability of three main entitlement programs: Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. As Richard Fisher, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, noted in a May 29, 2008, speech: "Add together the unfunded liabilities from Medicare and Social Security, and it comes to $99.2 trillion over the infinite horizon."

Fisher and many fellow economists note that the majority of this liability is attributable to the Medicare and Medicaid programs mainly because spending for these programs, and across the health care sector generally, are rapidly outpacing the growth of inflation at a rate faster than Social Security. The Congressional Budget office estimates that health care spending in both the public and private sectors composes 18 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), or 2.6 trillion dollars, and is expected to rise to almost 20 percent of GDP by 2017. Of that amount, Medicare and Medicaid spending alone constitutes about 5 percent of GDP and is expected to grow to 6 percent in 2019 and to 12 percent by 2050.

There is not a silver-bullet solution to reigning in the rising cost of health care. However, Congress must work to encourage medical and pharmaceutical research and development, focus on prevention and health promotion, and minimize waste and errors in providing care, specifically in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Thank you, again, for contacting me.

    Sincerely,

    Richard G. Lugar

Plus 1. I can't believe what has become of Lugar. He used to be a voice of wisdom and conservative values. Not anymore.

That's both my dad's opinion and mine as well. Dad used to really like him and so did I, he used to actually do good stuff for the working class people. Now he's screwing stuff up for us left and right. I really hope we can get some good conservative candidates to run against both Bayh and Lugar this year. They both need to be replaced!!!

Maybe I should send him a letter. I should ask him what gives him the right to dictate my healthcare? Ask him if he has read and understands the US constitution? Then also let him know how he has let me down as my senator.

    When?

He voted for Brady and the Assault Weapons Ban back in 1994 and Dan Coats said that entreaties by Lugar got him to switch his AWB vote to yes after he vowed to oppose it. Specter, when he was Republican, was considered a very liberal Republican, yet he has always had virtually the same ACU ratings as Lugar on votes. He's always been a turd.

I have heard that too. I hope he doesn't run again. We need to find a conservative to put in the Senate in his place. The problem is that if he does seek re-election the state Republican party will support him since he has lots of seniority in the Senate. So no matter if he run again or not the Indiana Republican party needs to come up with a conservative that is interested in lowering taxes, small government, and individual liberty to be the candidate to represent us.

    Dead on, Ramen.

The 1910's screwed this country over hard. The federal reserve, the income tax, elected senators and women voting.

The socialists planted their seeds and they've come to near total fruition. Those four factors are going to destroy this country. Probably in less than 10 years.
