The Wabash Heritage Trail is a great day hike along the Wabash and you usually see some cool birds and critters. http://www.indianatrails.com/content/wabash-heritage-trail The Purdue Horticultural Park is a great time, especially if you like trees. http://www.purdue.edu/faculty_staff_handbook/Recreation/Horticulture_Park.html The Hill Country Park is cool and a good place to see raptors (the flying kind, not the dinosaur kind). Tippecanoe County Parks: http://www.homeofpurdue.com/countyparks.html You can hop down to Turkey Run or many other places in adjacent counties. I don't camp, so I do not know what is available.
