I am looking at getting a Kel-tec PF-9 once my local shop has some (guns period!) back in stock. I have seen a variety of different color options, but the one that seems most commonly in stock is black frame with blued slide. Chances are that will be the one I get. However I do not like the blueing on the slide, I think it looks shoddy. So I figure I would get it coated.

Unless of course that ends up costing a good chunk of the guns purchase price... lol. Anyone have any experience with this?

Also the ones I have seen I am not very fond of the sights. I would like to get something decent sized, noticeable, bright white with a tritium insert.

Lastly, I have seen talk on this forum of PF-9s being kinda iffy on reliability. Is this something a gunsmith can work out? Feed ramp polishing, action smoothing, etc? Is it even worth it? I really like the aesthetics of the PF-9. I like the mini rail. But the biggest draw is the price, the size/weight, and the 7+1 9mm capacity.

    Pro:
Easy to carry,[STRIKE] more accurate than expected[/STRIKE], great customer service

    Con:
hard to hold, hurts to shoot 50 rounds through, you may need that great customer service

    THIS^^^

I didn't find it particularly accurate, but like the gentlemen above me is saying, for such a short barrel it did touch the paper. . . . but it was super easy to carry, Kel-tec has great customer service and replaced a mag for me free of cost and I don't know how many owner down the line I was. But no questions asked!

That being said I did not care for the trigger, and I always feel that kel-tecs finishes are lacking.

If you get it for a good :twocents::twocents::twocents: then go for it!

I have a PF-9 and carry it most of the summer when I have shorts on. very good little gun. I have not noticed it being hard to shoot but simple physics will tell you obviously it will bite harder than a gun that weighs twice as much and is bigger. I have the SS slide and the finish is decent but not great by any means. Hell its not a Kimber or big $$$ gun. For the price you cannot beat it. If you want a better finished gun that shoots sweeter and is more comfortable then your gonna have to pay more money. I don't think you will be disappointed in the gun over all.

I own a PF9 and like it well enough. I keep it in my Jeep and figure at a price of 200-250 if it were stolen it wouldn't hurt too much.

I agree with what others have been saying. Plenty accurate for such a small gun but it can be unpleasant to shoot 50+ rounds out of it. If your looking for a gun to carry or stash somewhere it would do the job. If you want a range gun or a tack driver look at something else.

    superb???
You don't get much better than "superb"
I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.

    I could stomach, "decent"
    "good"
    "serviceable"
    "acceptable"

    But superb?
    Nope
