Me: *answers door -sees young dude* "Can I help you with something?

Dude: "Uh...Is MiniJet here?"

Me: "Maybe. You got a name, kid?"

*sends MiniJet to the door...*

Five minutes later
Me: Who was that

MiniJet: Some guy that asked me out Thursday.

Me: What's his name? His REAL name?

MiniJet: It's A.J.

Me: Huh. I figured it was a fake name since he was struggling to come up with it...

MiniJet: No. He was probably intimidated by that gun on your hip.

Me: *looks down at side* "Oh.. aheh..Yeah, that might do it."

When suitors come to my house the first place we go is to my gun safe.

I had one young man that I felt it was time to show the AR-50. I explained the ballistics characteristics and overall capabilities of the 50BMG round, and showed him pictures of me hitting man-sized targets at 1200 yards. Never saw him again.

Nice I've got at least 15 years for that as my daughter is 10 mo old. I think by the time that happens the safe will be full and maybe a second safe will be started by then. And let him see them and say "Her mother is very proficient with them all!" or "I also have a gravel pit, would you like to see it too?"

Ugh... I have two 20-something daughters now. You can do everything possible to raise them right, but all you can do is pray that they learn what you teach them.

A little intimidation is quite compelling as well.

Her: "Kid, quit following me."

Him: "Why?"

Her: "You're annoying. You lied to me about your name, you lied about what grade you're in, you lied about where you live, and you continue to follow me home every day. Knock it off if you value the current arrangement of your face. The 'rents are not impressed and neither am I."

Him: "Is your dad like crazy protective or something?"

Her: "Of course. But my mom is even more. Did you not notice the gun on her hip when she answered the door?"

Him: "Oh. Yeah, I thought it was a pre-Halloween prop."

Her: "The only 'gun props' in my house are called "sand bags". Now take a hike."
