    Sure, if you cut the rest of the answer:

    She goes into foster care until the issue is thoroughly investigated, exactly the same as if some daughter of Jewish belief claimed her father would stone her for "adultery" or of a Christian who believed her father would burn her at the stake for converting to wicca.

    My answer would be the same for the two cases, but in neither case is the answer one that appears to currently be "on the table" in the discussion. For a 17 years old within Florida's jurisdiction, "emancipation" is an option on the table. I would not consider that for a 12 year old. I am of mixed feelings on "emancipation" for a minor anyway, so myanswer would remain "foster care" and I'd need to know a lot more about the situation--including information that is not in the public record, before I decided that the investigation so mentioned was sufficient for return to the original home.
