For those of us INGO members who attend IUPUI, here's the recent IU Police Department Synapsis of campus-related bad-things up until 2008.

Indiana University Police Dept. - Indianapolis Div.

    Enjoy.

Cellular One cellular telephone users can call the IUPUI Public Safety Dispatch Center free of charge by dialing COPS (2677) from their cellular telephone.

Cellular One doesn't even exist anymore in the Indy area. Maybe they are still in business elsewhere.

Indiana Code gives post-secondary educational institutions accredited by the North Central Association the authority to appoint police officers (IC 20-12-3.5-1). The Board of Trustees and IUPUI have used that authority to form a police department. The Police at IUPUI have jurisdiction on any real property owned or occupied by the University or on any streets through or adjacent thereto. The Department also shares concurrent jurisdiction anywhere in Marion County through an agreement with the Sheriff of Marion County (IC 20-12-3.5-2).

IC 20-12-3.5-1 and IC 20-12-3.5-2 = ARTICLE 12. REPEALED per the state IC website.

University escort services are a joke...

When I was at IU they advertised the heck out of it to potential and incoming freshmen. However the reality was...

If you called during daylight hours, they wouldn't pick you up.
If you called and had a friend with you, they said pairs were safe... won't pick up.
Some men I knew tried to call and were given a hard time about using the service because they were a man.

So 2 girls walking around at night are apparently perfectly safe, nobody ever gets harmed during daylight hours, and men should just grow a pair.

When they WOULD pick you up, people complained about ridiculous wait times.
