I have a trade offer on the table from a person out of state. I am wondering if it's safe to trade guns via ffl shipment with a person that's out of state. I also would like to get members' opinions on how to protect myself from losing my property in an out of state transaction. What's to stop this person from receiving my gun and just not sending his in return?

If you are trading via gunbroker or another online site, check their feedback. If you send it in you are running the same risk of someone sending payment and not receiving the gun, but if they have lots of good feedback you should be fine. I am very leery about buy from someone without feedback. If I do its only via credit card with fraud protection. Good Luck.

I have done this many times, the main thing is to check their feedback and ask them for references to call on to check them out.

I also get this address first to see if the address is correct to that person.

Does he live in a neighboring state?

If so I think you can travel to a FFL in that state, or he can travel here to a FFL in Indiana and complete the transaction legally.

By no means would I do a out of state trade unless it was a FTF with a FFL present, too easy to just keep the gun and run. No matter how good of a rating he has on Gunbroker.

personally....I would first verify the true name and address of the guy I am dealing with as well as all feedback on the website we met through..... THEN I would verify the the existence of the FFL...is it really a store or just some guy selling guns out of his garage??? That would make a BIG difference to me.
