    There is no such law. Just make sure that the handgun was not stolen or used in a crime that would make the cops confiscate it if they ran the serial number.

    Also, try the carry issues/self defense form next time.

    No you do have to have your license to carry.
    And if the gun is purchased through an FFL, they will have to run a quick check on the serial # through the Feds, but thats just a phone call.

    I'm new to this site .I just started using it about a week ago,even though I joined it in August . Wasn't sure where to look .Just thought I'd ask .

    There was at one time the ability to register in Indianapolis. Back in the late 1970s I was givin a revolver from my Uncle. He had it registered in his name and asked me to transfer it. I went to IPD and they pulled a rather yellow old card from the file and put my name as the owner. Don't know if they still do that or not. But in answer to the OP - no.

    I was told to "register" my 9MM in 97 when I got out of the Navy. However, I recently asked a similar question and found out that there in no mandatory registration, then or now.

    I registered a gun with the Johnson co. sheriffs office many years ago .Didn't know if it was still required. Thanks again for the info.
