I've been wondering about this lately, but with the next election just months away I'm wondering how much longer its going to be before the next round of shortages of guns, ammo, and reloading supplies.

I'm thinking of shifting around some of my prepping plans because of what I expect to see coming soon. Anyone else concerned about this?

You mean, should you use extra cash to stock up now on supplies you may need later that will be more expensive?

Or..should you use extra cash to buy items that will go up in value in order to make a profit?

Either way, go for it. But speculative investing has it's ups and downs.

The next big "rush" on guns and ammo could happen if our current
commander & chief takes a major lead in the next election :ugh:

    God help us then....:crying:

None of this really matters to us as we are behind in our prep. program. I was unaware how far until I started reading the threads in here so we are full speed ahead anyway.
Ammo is in good order now we concentrate on food, meds, etc.
I really do not want another 4 years of the currant Commander and Thief but I have no trust in the electorate........:noway:......:xmad:

I was actually wondering about that today as well, with the elections coming up, because we all know that if hussain obama gets re-elected, he will go all out on weapon bans.....

I have a short term goal of excelerated prep about to go full steam ahead for this very reason hoping to "beat the rush" that I think will come in a few months.

What makes you say that? There's not really any doubt that President Obama is going to win re-election easily but that said, there's also not much doubt that Congress will continue with the House held by the GOP and the Senate by the Democrats. While it's true that any second-term POTUS doesn't have to fear another election, that's not true for members of Congress. The President can suggest all the bills and programs he wants but between the obstructionist Republicans and Democrats facing re-election, it's doubtful that little, if any, of his programs will ever be made law. Personally, I think we're in for a lot of price-gouging and fear-mongering in the next few months. Not due to any ideology but solely due to the potential profit to be made.

well, what makes me say that, is that the man is more in love with "international law", than american law.....I belive firmly that this man willl do what he can to bypass congress and senate to give international law more influence in our legal process...he will try as hard as he can, and I know that!
Will he be successul in bypassing the congress and senate?, I do not know...But he WILL try his hardest...I do know that much!

    Really, MadBomber? Really?
The DICTATOR in Chief has gone around Congress (wimps) too many times already. What makes you think that IF he got in again, that he wouldn't just dismiss Congress altogether (only keeping those he can use) and totally trash the Constitution (officially). (Like forbid anyone speaking of it)

Without the threat of being voted out, the "traitor" in chief could stop at nothing to move us where he wants us to go.

Better pray (or whatever you do) that he doesn't get in again. (I have no doubt that there will be LOTS of "funny" votes - dead people voting, people voting more than once, people inelligable to vote voting, etc.) It hasn't stopped his supporters before.

Congress is the issue, not the office of the President. As long as Congress has the power to Impeach, and the will to use it, no President can run amok. 2nd-term presidents have historically been more about legacy-polishing than anything else. 2nd-term presidents also are typically plagued by scandal that further weakens their presidency (for examples see the second terms of Nixon, Reagan, Clinton and Bush). I'd be much more concerned about constitutional abuses by a first-term Gingrich or Romney presidency.

Either way, the price of common prep-gear like guns, ammo, food, etc are going to rise sharply over the next few months as sellers seize the opportunity to increase profits. For proof, just look back to the summer and fall of 2008 and huge increase in AR prices because everyone just "knew Obama was going ban guns his first day in office". It never happened and was never attempted. In fact, you could make the argument that since Obama was elected, gun-rights have improved. The 2A fight is steadily gaining ground and while we still have a long way to go, things are improving.

If, for some reason, that BHO decides to let this economy free fall when the European Market drops off again, I would rather have hard assetts that are readily employed, rather than have stuff I wished I would've bought when the inflation hadn't hit yet. But, you can wait til the election if you want.

I'm not waiting any longer than necessary. I already have two guns picked out. I will get them within the next couple of months. (And LOTS more ammo as well.)

Problem is: I also have to replace my pickup truck that I totaled on the 12th of this month. (Ice on bridge)

I have never felt such dread before. Obama and this administration are responsible for that feeling. While I prepped before, I have never felt this urgency in the past.

Funny how seeing a true socialist in action makes you want to get ready for the worst. As I said, No faith in the electorate. Folks are drinking the koolaid by the gallon.
Have the guns, ammo but need more food. Got another genny today (makes 3) and need to get the fuel stores up to an acceptable level.

See fast and furious then see the number of executive orders. I think it's probable he will aggressively go after guns and he clearly isn't planning on working with congress this year so why would he going forward?

To answer the OP's question: Yes, it is very possible. If there's something that you want or need, the early bird gets the worm.

Is the next round of panic buying right around the corner.....in my opinion ...yes

I look for the attention of the people to turn toward world events and the direction this nation is heading. I think the panic buying mode is going to kick in - and especially after people start getting their income taxes back. As 2012 progresses, and the election season turns hostile, there are going to be a lot of propaganda on TV and the internet about the various people running for office. I look for this propaganda to have a side effect on the voters, and that is spreading fear through the general public. I see ammo and gun prices going up and possible shortages in ammo.

One thing i would add the media will be having alot of story's about people and groups who believe in the 2012 doomsday stuff ....media loves drama it sells.... people watch.... in turn people who have never even thought of it before will be buying freeze dried foods etc.....they don't believe it but just in case attitude . Every freeze dried foods company i have talked to expect shortages just for that reason in 2012 throw in any other disaster ,or more economic collapse stuff, etc good luck finding freeze dried foods we all remember not to long ago there were shortages in the system.......

I agree that there will be more "storage" issues as well as the rise in gun/ammo sales (I will be one of them) Unfortunately for me, my prep money will be diverted to the purchase of another truck (since I totaled mine earlier this month). (It will be a used one, hopefully one that I can use the parts off the totalled truck on.)

Plans fall apart quickly, but we must still plod along, doing the best we can - always. Alterations will be made, but NEVER stopped. Never give up!

Church mouse, I have Rep'd you too much it wont let me, so consider a public 1 up!

I think there will be some markups of various stuff, I dont think as many people will go for the 2012 end of world, due to the flop y2k turned out to be. I remember the y2k prelude and it was crazy, there where small stores opening just to carter to prep or people buy false security,,but none the less. Now the mr.O scare/election cause some price increases, yeah mostly likely..
