I would guess that at least 95% of the members on here own 1 or more .22 rifles. It's hard to beat a little plinking with one on a lazy summer afternoon, and most of us started shooting with one as a child. How about sharing the ones you own, including a little history if you think it is noteworthy.
I consider myself very lucky to have acquired the guns that I own. I shoot all but one of my .22's. The one I don't is just too pretty or fancy for me to shoot it. It is a Marlin model 39 Century Limited that is heavily engraved and gold inlayed. Bought it for myself as a retirement present to me. Nobody else would!! Bought it for a song from a shop that didn't know what it was worth.
I have another Century Limited that is in exc. condition and I shoot it a lot.
Have A Marlin 1897 deluxe that I shoot sparingly with sub-sonic ammo only.
I own an Anchutz model 1422 DCL that is the most accurate .22 I ever owned. Still wonder how they do it over there....
There are 2 Mossberg model 46 B's that are different. One is pre-war and the other is about 1948. Both are very accurate.
Remington model 34 is an oldie that was well cared for and accurate.
Winchester model 61 came from a garage sale in Florida. Paid $40 for it. A real hoot to shoot! Also have a model 1890 in L.R. that is nice and a good shooter
3 single shots- Remington 1 1/2 rolling block from about 1880.
    Remington model 6
    Stevens model 44
Have 3 Marlin model 60's that all came from garage sales. Good loaners....
Weatherby model XXII that is the most accurate semi-auto I have ever owned. Fine workmanship in Italy on this one.
Remington model 12C that is an honest 96% or so gun. Great shooter.
2 Remington nylon 66's - one black, one brown.
Old Stevens model 87 with plastic stock
    Marlin model 881 bolt action.
I can't think of any more right now. Dang, didn't know I had that many
here. There are few that I intend to sell. Always did like .22 rifles....Next:popcorn:

have not owned a .22 rifle in my short time playing with hole punches. i have, however owned or currently own 2 .22 pistols. i owned a sig mosquito, shot the crap out of it. sold it. missed it like hell so i bought another one a couple years later. nothing like defending against the horde of diet pop cans and shoot n see prairie dogs with .22 for an afternoon.

I own two .22s. One belonged to my dad when he first got back from Vietnam in 1968. Its a Remington 550-1, semi. Its a hoot to fire and probably my favorite among all my firearms. The other I own is an EIG 6 shot revolver. Recent acquisition and have not had time to fire it yet.

nicajack, would be interested to know what your wanting to move. I just need to get my post count up.

    have a ruger 10/22 and a walther p22
love em both cause you cant beat the price of ammo and I have a few (note sarcasm) metal plates/screws/pins in my body that don't take real well to repeated heavy recoil

cant beat a 22 for target. my first one i shot was a Philippine model that looked similar to the 10/22 and had a spread of a quarter at 100yds with hard sights. was hooked ever since. looking at a H & R 9shot revolver with 4in barrel. any thoughts or comparisons? second choice would me heritage rough rider. <--thoughts on that too are welcome.

i have a S&W M&P15-22 and it is the best 22 I have ever shot. It takes any accessory that any AR-15 will, and you can shoot all day and not kill your wallet. It is great for practice and when moving up to regular AR, it feels much more natural.

Ahh... 22's make me feel happy inside.

I like to dump boxes of .22 ammo into an empty miracle whip jar just so I can look at it all piled up in there.

they also look good in a 1/2 pint and pint container, such ones as made by my friends Jack and Jim

doh - i always smash those over my head when empty.

favorite old 22 rifle: winchester 52 pre-a model.
    favorite all-around 22 rifle: ruger 10/22

i would like to try out a fancy anschutz biathalon rifle someday. (hint, hint santa).
