Coming home from college tomorrow, I am a typical college student (nearlybroke) and was wondering what you would recommend to buy and enjoy shooting forthe winter. I sold my glock 29 to my brother this summer and have not hadanything since :(

Just looking for something to shoot without going completely broke thatpreferably is not a .22 and wondered if you had any recommendations

I'm curious what people suggest. .22s are very cheap and fun to shoot. Does anything come close?

Bulk .22 ammo runs about 4 cents/rd while three of the cheaper options
(9mm & 7.62x39 & 7.62x54) are about 20 cents/rd. You can shoot a .22 all day for under $20. That is just getting warmed up in other calibers.

Yeah, gotta say that "fun" + " inexpensive" = .22LR.

I would say Marlin 795 for rifle ($100) and GSG1911 for pistol ($299). I don't think it gets much more fun on the cheap than that.

My ruger mark 3 is a constant range companion

Same here. If I had to chose one pistol, I'd sell the glock 10mm and the xd 45 before I parted ways with my ruger mark III target.

To the OP, If you don't like the 22lr pistols look into the "ultimate clip loader". It makes having a 22lr so much more fun and for $20 I can reload all six of my mags almost as fast as I can unload them.

I am looking for a pistol mainly, have borrowed a mosin before however just not my thing for daily shooting/probably gonna carry (better to have something than nothing) I would like to stay somewhere around the $300 mark if possible, will look into the gsg1911, p95, and mark 3 and see what I can find.

The GSG1911 is a good choice if you like the 1911 style. You may also want to consider the Sig Sauer 1911-22, which is the same as the GSG1911 with wood grips. The Sig 1911-22 is about $370.

22s can be a blast to shoot.

Last Saturday I ran over 500 rounds through one shooting tin cans, clay birds, and golf balls at 25 to 100 yards.

I had an FNP9 with me but it barely made it out of the holster.

Total cost for the day with the 22? About 15 bucks.

I felt like a kid in the candy store again.

It's also a great way to work on technique without blowing through more expensive ammo.

    Love to 22s!

Unfortunately it probably is going to turn into whatever I find someone selling for a good price. Wouldn't mind a Ruger LCP at all tho. Just going to have to look around and wait it out. And while .22's have been fun for me in the past (and basically dirt cheat rounds), I really would like something larger
