I need some edging, 2-3 yards of mulching, trim a couple of bushes and remove a sandbox. Small property could be knocked out in a day or less by one person.

Don't take this the wrong way but for a little job like that I would call up a couple people on craigslist, hire a local kid, or simply use my truck.

I did lawn/landscape commercially for 13 years, the big guys are going to want a bunch of money to touch the job.

Like said above that is a bit small of a job for most companies.... The big ones will either not touch it or charge more then the smaller outfits... In other words save yourself some time and only look at the smaller operations.
