If you do buy a handgun from an individual, say one of those guys walking around with a sign on their back, how do you get it out of the building?
You have to have the little gold or silver 1500 sticker to get out.
Do the police give stickers to the sellers when they come in?

Just something I have always wondered about.

I'm pretty sure you can just walk out. When they come in with the firearm the trigger usually gets tied so it can't be used until its cut loose.

The orange (or what ever color the are using that day) zip tie the police put on the gun when someone carries it in the door indicates that it's a privately owned gun and not a vendors gun.

As long as that zip tie is still on there you can carry it out the door. If you try to take a gun out with out the zip tie you have to prove you bought it from a vendor. That's where you need the sticker and receipt.

All you have to have is a broken zip tie if you don't have it on the gun also. I asked one of the IMPD officers if I could just have a tie, since I was there to buy a holster and would be taking it off. Of course he just LOL, knew where I was coming from, but said if I was to take it off, just to make sure I had it with me when I left. I'm not saying this is gospel, just my single experience.

I asked about cutting one off a pistol I had for sale (guy wanted to strip it and function test it), the guy at the table said to just cut it and keep the tie handy.

    Well, yeah.
I would want to at least see if the slide locked back, check the trigger, safety if it was a 1911 and stuff like that.

    Thanks for the responses.

I may just have to buy something to try it out. :rockwoot:

Also, as you go in there are PILES of the orange ties (cut and used) laying by
the doorway. Grab a few extras. :)

I am still waiting to receive my LTCH. Can I buy a gun at the 1500 from a private seller? Or can I only buy from a vendor so that they can do a background check?

    Are you a convicted felon?
If not, then, yes you can LEGALLY purchase from a private seller.

And buying (a handgun)from a private seller would count as a point of purchase for non LTCH buyers? So you can legally transport it from the show to your fixed place of residence and/or office?
