Last Saturday I was down to Indy to the Indiana State Museum to see the Prohibition Exhibit.
Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites | American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition
The entire history of the temperance movement to Anti-Saloon League to the political struggle to the Volstead Act was on display including such artifacts as Carrie Nation's ax, Olmstead's telephone, Ness's Oath of Office, an M1921, and a great demonstration on how the 18th Amendment came to be and how it was repealed.
Much of it was devoted to the crime and smuggling that Prohibition caused. There is fun stuff too, e.g. you can get your photo taken with Al Capone or learn to dance all the variants of the Charleston.
Try to pick out the INGOer (do you think I got the Bill Ayers lean right?):
I had a great time (I learned stuff too, like how the beer companies went into the ice cream business during Prohibition--saw a photo of a Yuengling ice cream trunk) and can recommend this to all of INGO.
$13.00 and with validated parking, parking was only $3.
