A few weeks ago, I heard of a Bill97 that supported Gun Rights on Indiana Campuses. Has anyone heard of the status of that?

Can someone explain why SB292 had no trouble passing yet nobody is even giving SB097 the time of day?

Current political climate. SB292 flew under the radar, if SB097 gets ANY traction, it will become national news.

Yeah, didn't really connect the dots. Now that you mention it I have seen numerous articles about states attempting to pass similar bills. Pretty heart-wrenching considering I had 5 officers show up and seize my G19 from my on-campus apartment. Would have been nice not to have to go through that again. Oh well.

    Where's the bacon?
Actually.... I spoke with my state senator a couple of days ago. He told me that yes, the political climate is an issue, as is political backlash if anything happens that can be "spun" to be a result of something like this. That said, though, the bill is currently in Sen. David Long's Rules committee and still may get a hearing even though that's where bills go to die. Keep up the pressure on your legislators to get it heard and while you're at it, support HB 1473, authored by Rep Jim Lucas. This is in the House Public Policy committee, and does address carry at schools.

A note of thanks to Rep. Lucas might be a nice thing, too. :)

    Blessings,
    Bill
