Thanks for the update! I passed the info along to a good buddy of mine.

A note for those interested: From a few different folks whose words I've read...the IN CO academy training is akin to Army Basic Training as far as the PT is concerned.

If you're gonna do it...be prepared. In my opinion, the COs are probably the most trained / cross-trained officers in IN as far as the total body of work that they're involved in.

Very true. A high school buddy of mine works for the gaming commission and when he went through the academy, he said the CO class would start an hour before them and go an hour past the time they quit. The instructor for his class was ex-military and made the comment about the CO class being excessive.

A word of advice for those that apply......start running now. When you think you have done enough.....run more.

    That's what I've heard.

There's your standard LE Academy classes...

Step up to the State Police Academy classes...

Then a pole-vault up for the Conservation Officer classes.

I think that I could do a FINE job as a CO... But there's no way on this Earth that I'd ever be able to graduate their academy!

Be prepared, I took and passed their written test for the last hiring. It will be like no other LEO test you have ever taken. We had to do an essay on why we wanted to be a CO, a basic language and punctuation test, and than over 300 questions on an apptitude type test. One of those "I work well with others or I don't work well with others". Also, if you pass the written, be warned, their official application is VERY VERY extensive.
