Edit: looks like it took place near 38th and Mithoffer, suspect down.

I have heard the officer was struck in the foot and that the suspect is in critical condition at Eskenazi

Prayers for the officer, hopefully he can recover fully and not suffer any long term side effects. I hope the suspect gets exactly what he deserves!

I'm not advocating firing a weapon at anyone but it has to be reassuring to the officer involved that he did indeed have backup that he didn't know he had. I wonder if it was an INGO'er? I doubt it though, I think most of us know to steer clear of that area if possible. Keep us updated!!

A reporter with WTHR says it started at the Marathon gas station on 38th and moved to Amber Woods apartments..

Officer is alert and conscious and headed to Eskenazi

Not too many details are known to the investigators yet, let alone the media.

That's always been my fear. In the chaos of a firefight how do you properly identify yourself as one of the "good guys"?

By shooting the bad guy and asking the cop if he is OK. Over simplified answser but a good start.

It's a fear of mine as well, would not want to make a bad situation worse, but want to help.
