Couple of new guys at work used to work as gunsmiths. One of them fixed my .22 for me and I'll be going to the range to check it out! That sucker needed cleaning. Firing pin was sticking and wouldn't always pop back to be struck by the hammer.

Just got back from the range. The Savage Model 89 performed flawlessly! 50 rounds through it and no malfunctions at all.

The problem was that the firing pin was fouled with brass flakes, making it stick forward so the hammer wouldn't hit it. Now that it was disassembled and properly cleaned that is no longer an issue. I'm kind of thinking the fouling came from cheap ammo from over 20 years ago, since it hadn't been fired in over 20 years until last summer when the sticking firing pin reared its ugly head. Now, we're back in business! :rockwoot:
